£20,000 plan to improve park

THE popular Fishponds Park is to get a £20,000 makeover.
Greater Fishponds Neighbourhood Partnership has agreed to fund the revamp after hearing that the play equipment was decades old.
Yvonne Sadler, chairwoman of the environmental subgroup, said: “Fishponds Park is already a lovely green oasis but the children’s play area is quite tired.
“The fact is that a lot of the mums there now used to play on it when they were toddlers.”
The GFNP will allocate £19,579 of Section 106 money – contributions to the community from developers – for the park project.
It now hopes to involve people from the area, especially parents of young children, in deciding how the park would be developed. Volunteers will be encouraged to form a Friends of Fishponds Park group and to work with council neighbourhood officers on the project.
