A royal message

IT was a special end to the academic year for the children of Barley Close Community Primary when they received a letter from Buckingham Palace.
It followed a whole-school activity to mark the Queen's 90th birthday. Pupils read the popular Nicholas Allan story, The Queen’s Knickers, about the underwear the monarch might choose for a school visit. They wrote letters to Her Majesty to find out more about her role, wrote newspaper reports and designed her some knickers to wear on different occasions . These were all posted to the Palace and a reply from a lady in waiting was received by the end of term.
Head teacher Jo Williams said: “It was a lovely end to what has been an amazing year at Barley Close.”
