A teenage journey in faith

A TOTAL of 40 teenagers have celebrated their confirmation at St Augustine’s Church in Downend.
Together with young people from St Paul’s in Yate, St Lawrence in Chipping Sodbury and Our Lady of Lourdes in Kingswood, the boys and girls took part in a Sacramental Mass with Right Reverend Declan Lang, Bishop of Clifton.
The teenagers have been working together for six months alongside a team of catechists to learn about their faith and to discover what it means to be a Catholic adult.
As part of the preparations the group went on a retreat day to the village of Nymphsfield, Gloucestershire where a theatre group ran workshops, plays and reflection sessions.
As the young people received their Sacrament, St Augustine’s was full of family, friends and well wishers who described the evening as emotional, uplifting and inspirational.
