CHARITY volunteer Alan Alford has been recognised at a national award ceremony hosted by the Duchess of Cornwall and Philip Schofield.
He was named a Diamond Champion by the Royal Voluntary Service which celebrates the work of older volunteers in the UK.
Alan, 74, has been volunteering for various causes since 2001, including St Peter’s Hospice, Frenchay Hospital and Contact the Elderly.
He was chosen among 12 winners out of more than 2000.
Alan, who lives in Frenchay, said: “I really enjoy helping people. It really is a tremendous feeling.”
