CHILDREN and staff at The Tynings School had a treat when popular author Jeremy Strong visited for a day.
The visit, in which the international best-seelling writer held workshops for every year group, was part-funded by the school's parents, teachers and friends group.
It was part of a drive to inspire children to read and write and to raise their aspirations in literacy.
Jeremy Strong showed the children some of his own school work from when he was six, as well as reading from and talking about some of his best known titles.
The highlight of the day was when he cut the ribbon to open the new school library. Children and parents then queued to have books signed by him. Afterwards, some pupils wrote articles about the visit,
Head teacher Ashley Yates said: “It was a really special event.”
