Bean Tree Cafe is going down a storm

THE NEW cafe in Page Park has been officially opened to the public.

It had originally been scheduled to open in June but delays with building materials meant it had to be put back until August 5.

Called the Bean Tree Cafe, the facility has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund but is being leased, maintained and operated by a private company.

Tom and Melody Beard, who used to run the Hungry Caterpillar Play Cafe in Downend, took over the keys just a day before its official opening so had their work cut out to make sure it was up and running the following day.

Steph Purser, vice chair of Friends of Page Park, said: "The Friends welcome Tom and Melody to Page Park and look forward to working with them, planning many future events.

"The cafe is a beautiful building in a beautiful setting and we hope our community will value and support it."

• Tom and Melody f would like to set up a Monday Club in The Nest for the over 60s and are looking for someone who may be interested in organising this.It could include crafts, board games and pamper sessions but other ideas are welcome.

If you think you are the person please email beantreecafebristol@gmail.com or make contact via the Bean Tree Cafe's Facebook page. Contact can also be made via the website friendsofpagepark.co.uk
