Bomb hoaxer remanded in custody

Following the bomb hoax in Cassell Road, Fishponds on May 31st a man appeared in court last Saturday charged with placing an article with intent and criminal damage to property.

Stewart Jackson, aged 42 admitted both the offences and was remanded in custody to appear at Bristol Crown Court on 23rd June.

Residents from over 450 homes in the immediate area were evacuated early in the morning after police attended the incident following a report of a suspicious car and found the vehicle doused in fuel. 

The bomb squad were called and carried out controlled explosions, no actual explosives were found.

Mr Jackson was arrested last Friday.

Residents within the vicinity were forced to spend over eight hours away from their homes, before the all clear was given by police to return

An Avon & Somerset police spokesman said: “We are continuing to support the local community following the incident and last Wednesday evening, 13 Police Cadets took part in reassurance foot patrols in the Cassell Road area.

    Why jail him it costs us more to do that, publicly flog him and give him reduced benefits!!!!!
