Brimming with confidence at Frome Vale Academy
Published on: 01 Sep 2014
At Frome Vale Academy, we are starting the 2014-15 academic year with optimism and confidence.
This follows an Ofsted inspection in July which resulted in a ‘Good’ rating for the first time in the history of FVA and the former Oldbury Court School.
All the staff and children are very proud of this judgement and are grateful for the support of our parents and carers over recent months.
The inspectors recognised our rapid and sustained progress and said we were well placed to improve further.
Our executive principal Mandy Milsom, associate principal Jan Saunders and the team are determined to continue striving to provide an outstanding education for every child.
Ms Milsom says: “It has been an amazing journey over the past few months. This is such a lovely school and our community has so much potential.”
“The progress and attainment of our children at all Key Stages has been really good. Our combined Level 4+ Sats results rose by 46 percentage points to 68 this summer.
“All the staff at Frome Vale Academy are committed to providing a rich learning experience for the children so they leave fully prepared for the next stage of their education.”
Here are some of the lovely comments from our Ofsted report:
Pupils are well cared for and feel valued;
Children enjoy school and behave well;
Pupils are proud of their academy;
There is a calm and positive atmosphere.
Ms Milsom says: “We believe that every child needs to feel that they belong, that they matter, and that they are valued for their unique qualities. We strive to meet the needs of all the children in our care, with some having a personalised curriculum which meets their emotional and social needs.
“As the new National Curriculum starts this month, we are working hard to build a curriculum that focuses on developing the children’s basic skills alongside an enquiry-based approach to learning.”
Frome Vale Academy opened in 2012 as part of the Cabot Learning Federation and benefits from its commitment to “collaboration for outstanding achievement”.
We are fortunate to have wonderful grounds, including a nine-acre field, and have big plans to use our environment to help our children excel at sport, develop outdoor learning and discover more about our world.
We have places available in all year groups and welcome visitors by appointment. Please call the school office to make arrangements, For further information, visit our website: www.fromevaleacademy.co.uk
