Bromley Heath loses post office

BROMLEY Heath has lost its post office because not enough people used it.
Leanne Hurkett, who took over the service in April last year, said it had been a difficult decision. Announcing it on Facebook, she said: "When I took over in April 2017, the post office was running at a loss and we were eager to turn it around financially and prevent it from closure. We did manage to double the number of customers within two months of opening, but would have needed to double it again for it to cover its running costs.
"We were hoping that on our busiest Christmas month that we would at least break even and that our staff would not have to have worked for free, like they did on many occasions.
"The success of the Bromley Tea Rooms has helped immensely by supporting it financially for it to stay open this long. I can confirm that the Tea Rooms will be remaining open and extending into this area.
"It is with a heavy heart that, I would like to thank all our loyal customers and friends for making this an amazing experience for me and my staff, and I am sorry for any inconvenience caused."
Many residents expressed their thanks to Leanne for her efforts to keep the post office open and praised the tea rooms as a welcome addition to the area.
