Children’s hospice inspires dads’ sponsored cycle ride

Published on: 30 Jun 2014

FOUR dads from Downend are gearing up to tackle a 220-mile bike ride to help terminally ill youngsters.

Simon Shellard, Andy Harper, Steve Curtis and Pete Walker will be embarking on a journey from St Austell to Bristol in support of Children's Hospice South West.

The inspirational charity provides the only care in a hospice environment in the South West for children with life limiting illnesses and has three hospices located in the region - St Austell, Barnstaple and Wraxall.

The team will ride an average of 75 miles per day visiting each of the three hospices en-route and will face the challenges of Bodmin Moor and Exmoor before climbing through the infamous Cheddar Gorge on the final leg into Bristol.

The Ride for Precious Lives takes place from Friday July 11 to Sunday July 13.

The dads have set themselves a target to raise £2,000 for the charity.
