Choral performance marks Carers week

A CHORAL performance will mark Carers Week in South Gloucestershire, which runs from June 10 to 14.

Free singing workshops have been run by South Gloucestershire Council for people who provide care or support to a relative, friend or neighbour, to give the carers a break from their responsibilities.

The fortnightly workshops are led by music teacher and natural voice practitioner Indigo Craig and it is hoped that eventually they will lead to the formation of a permanent carers’ choir.

Sue Jaques, community engagement officer, said: “There is evidence that singing is beneficial for both physical and mental health, and hopefully these workshops will provide a positive and enjoyable experience for all.”
