Christina fast tracked into the semis

SINGING sensation Christina Marie was preparing for the semi-finals of the Voice as Downend Voice went to print.
The 20-year-old, who grew up in Fishponds, was fast tracked direct to the semi after wowing judge Ricky Wilson with her powerful voice.
After listening to her sing the Foo Fighters’ Everlong, Ricky told her: “I think it’s what the world was waiting for. That was amazing.”
She is now one of the favourites to win the show, with many saying she has the star quality to go on to forge a successful career in the music business.
Mum Sue Wickens, who works in Harvey’s fruit and veg shop in Staple Hill, has been busy putting up posters in local shop windows urging people to vote for her daughter.
Christina Marie avoided going to the public vote during the quarter-final because of her ‘free pass’ from the Kaiser Chief’s Ricky.
But the semi-final, on Saturday March 29, will see the two remaining acts from each of the four teams face the viewing public who will decide who goes on to represent their team in the final.
Christina Marie, who attended Whitefield Fishponds Community School (now Bristol Metropolitan Academy), has been compared to singing superstar Mariah Carey. for her ability to nail high notes.
