AMAZING! Fantastic! Superb family fun! Best summer event EVER! These were some of the comments that the St Augustine's Catholic Primary School and parish community said when the circus came to town.

After 18 months of planning, the summer event committee (made up of the primary school's PTFA, parish representatives and the scouts and guides supporters' association) pulled off one of the biggest events in their recent history.

Happy's Circus, a community fundraising, travelling circus, came to the school and set up their Big Top on the playing field.

Six hundred people enjoyed an evening of food, fun and laughter and were entertained by The Randelle Clowns and other talented performers.

Money raised is being split between the three organising groups, with the school money going to the library refurbishment fund.

A spokesman said: “These events continue to bring us all together in the spirit of our close, supportive school community. It was a wonderful night - and there are no reports of anyone running away with the circus ...well, not yet anyway!”
