Cleeve Wood Road Shops Christmas Event 2016

Saturday November 26, 2016 Midday until 4pm
WITH just over eight weeks until Christmas, you might want to think about pencilling in a shopping event where you can make a big difference to local charities.
Shops in Cleeve Wood Road are hosting their popular Christmas event on Saturday November 26 from noon-4pm.
Last year, despite poor weather, shoppers raised more than £1,200 for charity.
This year's event, the fifth of its kind, will support Jessie May, Charlton Farm Children’s Hospice South West and St Peter's Hospice in memory of Downend resident Steve Wood.
The event will include fair ground rides and food stalls and, for the first time, a Santa's grotto at West 70 Photography where little ones can meet Father Christmas in a comfortable and warm environment.
Santa will be on site for the duration of the event, although a ticketing system will be in place due to popular demand! Children can write letters to Santa and enjoy a Christmas movie while they wait.
Other fun and games include face painting, a tuck shop, guess the teddy’s name, win a football and gifts for mum and dad.
Local businesses and causes will be in attendance, selling goods in a special market stall. It is also hoped the charities supported by the shops will attend.
Music and entertainment will help ensure the day is as successful as last year's event.
As always, there will also be a large raffle supported by residents and businesses. Any raffle prize donations, big or small, are most welcome and can be dropped off to Webbs Flowers in advance of the date. Raffle tickets will be available prior to the event and on the day from Webbs Flowers and Style Collection.
The road will be closed fully for the first time following a contribution from Downend and Bromley Heath Parish Council.
The event is entirely funded by a number of the businesses at Cleeve Wood Road shops, along with the support of local businesses and parish council.
In another first, profits will also help support the regeneration group at Cleeve Wood Road shops to continue to help improve the area.
The event is weather dependent and traders recommend checking the official Cleeve Wood Road Facebook page and website for any updates.
• Cleeve Wood Road Shops Committee is grateful for the support of the following businesses who provide financial support for the event, including: Animal House Vets, CJ Hole, Cleeve Wood Pharmacy, Four Seasons Takeaway, M Coleman Estate Agents, Style Collection, Webbs Flowers and West 70 Photography.
