WALLACE and Gromit’s Grand Appeal is richer to the tune of £1,237.54 thanks to the generosity of shoppers at Cleeve Wood Road in Downend.
A giant cheque was handed over to Amy Ryder, community fundraiser for the appeal, after a festive fun day attended by more than 1,000 visitors.
The event, which featured a bouncy castle, barbecue, hog roast, raffle, stalls and a guest appearance by Santa, was organised by Cleeve Wood Shops Regeneration Group.
The money will go towards helping the Grand Appeal reach its target of £3.5million to support sick youngsters at Bristol Children’s Hospital.
T-shirt Printing & More’s Antonia Bressington, one of the organisers, said the event proved to be a fantastic day supported by more than 1,000 local people.
“I’d like to thank all the shops at Cleeve Wood Road Regeneration Group for their support, time and money in putting this event on, it was a real community achievement for all concerned.”
