St Austell 20   Cleve 15

CLEVE’S unbeaten record came to an end when they were beaten 20-15 away at St Austell.

As Downend Voice went to press, Cleve were still top of the South West One West league but the gap was closed to three points after the narrow loss.

An Ollie Phillips penalty put them ahead but St Austell went in front when flanker Ian Venner touched down.

Saints went further ahead through an Adam Kellow try which Matt Shepherd converted.

Shepherd then added a penalty for a 15-3 lead before Cleve hit back with a Nathan Huntley try converted by Phillips.

St Austell further increase their lead through fall back Dan Pearce.

The last score of the game came from a try by Cleve flanker Neil Evans.

Victories in the past month came away at Coney Hill (10-23) and home against Clevedon (55-10) and North Petherton (25-6).
