Colston’s pays visit to Downend

Parents in Downend and nearby will be considering their choice of primary and secondary schools for this coming September.
Several visited Colston’s for our Open Morning last September, and we have been pleased to welcome Downend pupils currently in Year 6 to our Year 7 Taster Days.
But I thought it would also be helpful to organise an Information Evening for the Downend community (see advertisement opposite).
The idea is to help, as far as we possibly can, in identifying the key considerations in choosing a school – any school!
We have booked the Concorde Room at Downend Folk House in Overndale Road from 7 to 8.30pm on Thursday, March 6, and I will be there along with colleagues including Stuart Smart, Head of Colston’s Lower, and most important of all some of our pupils.
It will be as relaxed as possible, with brief introductory words, a Q&A session (which can be as long as you like) and the chance to chat to us all informally over refreshments.
Ultimately the best advice to any parent is to make a personal visit. Go and see the schools which interest you and take your time when you look.
As far as Colston‘s is concerned, there really is no substitute for spending time on site, sampling the atmosphere and meeting pupils of all ages. Come on a day of your choice.
Meanwhile we would be delighted to see you at Downend Folk House on March 6. Please email Denise Sollis to let us know that you are planning to come – email@example.com
