STUDENTS from Downend and Mangotsfield Sixth Form are celebrating some excellent A-level results.
The two secondary schools merged their sixth forms a year ago to allow a wider curriculum and an increased focus on academic outcomes - and it’s paid off.
Many teenagers have secured places at leading universities, and others on higher level apprenticeships and similar schemes.
David Spence, head teacher at Mangotsfield School, said:  “These are really pleasing results, with us exceeding our targets.
"I am delighted with what our students have achieved. They have done themselves proud. I’m also very grateful for the support of parents and the dedication of my staff team.”
Downend School head teacher Mark Fuller said: “I would like to congratulate all of our students on their A-level and AS-level results.
"They have worked incredibly hard and deserve the success they have achieved. I
"I would also like to thank their parents for the support they have given and the teaching staff at the school for their hard work.”
