Plenty on offer at tennis club

AGE and ability, or lack of it, is no barrier to activity at Downend and Fishponds Lawn Tennis Club.

The youngest member is four years old and the eldest - so far - is 79.

The club, which is at the bottom of Cleeve Hill opposite Cleeve Lawns, would welcome new players, who can benefit from a team of three coaches.

Junior coaching is offered every weekday after school, depending on age and ability, as well as on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Cardio Tennis, a fun fitness session, and adult coaching take place on Monday evenings.

Individual coaching is available by arrangement.

The club, which was established in 1906,  has men’s, ladies and mixed adult teams, and junior teams from U8 to U16, competing in local leagues.

Last year eight  juniors attended LTA Talent ID Days and one of the club’s juniors plays for GB.
