Emersons Green East work starts

WORK has just got under way on the landmark development at Emersons Green East, which could see more than 2,500 homes being built.
South Gloucestershire councillors formally granted outline planning permission in June for the scheme, which is set to include two new primary schools, a secondary school, workplaces and other community facilities.
The site will feature new Park and Ride facility, a new footbridge over the Avon Ring Road and a network of new footways and cycleways.
The scheme will also include playing fields, a multi-use games area and an all-weather sports pitch.
Chairman of the council’s Development Control East committee Colin Hunt said: “We are pleased that this long awaited development has now started and will bring a much needed, high quality mix of homes to one of the region’s Enterprise Areas, complementing the rise in employment and investment in Emersons Green.”
Contractor Britannia has started work on the site alongside the Avon Ring Road.
