Exciting changes to play area

CHILDREN from Blackhorse Primary School joined the chairman of South Gloucestershire Council Howard Gawler in Emersons Green for the official unveiling of Westons Hill play area.
The site has been refurbished following extensive consultation with Mangotsfield Parish Council, local residents, Blackhorse Primary School, councillors and Avon and Somerset Police. The improvements were funded via South Gloucestershire’s Section 106 Open Spaces programme.
The new play equipment includes basket swings, a ‘skyrail’ (compact cableway/zip wire), trampoline, roundabout, and a multiplay unit (climbing frame and slide) in the junior and teen area. A goal post will also be added in the next few weeks.
The toddler area has an ocean theme and features fish design springers, a slide, climbing frame, smaller basket swing, and some additional seating for adults.
Megan, who is in Year 5 at Blackhorse Primary School, said: “I think the best part of the park was the zip wire, but overall I liked it all and really want to go there again.”
The play area’s design was carefully considered to allow maximum play value for the budget available, taking into account specific requests for items such as the cableway and trampoline.
