Festival prepares for 25th birthday
Published on: 30 May 2017
MANGOTSFIELD Festival celebrates its silver jubilee this month as the event continues to go from strength to strength.
As always, the festival on June 10 will start with a parade through the village followed by the formal opening.
There will be lots of stalls, music song and dance in the arena, a dog show, lots of activities for all ages - some traditional, some newer - and it all finishes with live music on the main stage.
Organisers expect to attract at least 5,000 people. They hope these will include some of those who have attended previous festivals, since the first one in 1992, and can share memories from when it used to be held on the green in front of the Lamb pub.
They have also invited former festival kings and queens, some of whom probably have their own children by now, to make a nostalgic return.
Mangotsfield Festival is run by a team of volunteers and money raised is given in grants to voluntary and community organisations.
In 2016 it helped fund the Mangotsfield village defibrillator and made awards to four local groups, The Kingswood Bus Project, Mini Mangos, St James Church Hall and Stanbridge Fliers.
