Free CPR Training for Everyone
Published on: 29 Jul 2014
Following on from the inaugural event late February, Acorn Health and Safety have teamed up with Downend Voice for their 2nd Free CPR Training event to be held on wednesday October 1st.
The events are to help raise the awareness of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in the local areas of Bristol and take the form of a free 90 minute CPR training session.
Shockingly, 77% of people either don’t know how to administer CPR or they are unsure of how to do it which is why the chance of survival after a cardiac arrest outside of hospital is only 5%-10%.
If you suffer a cardiac arrest, the person next or nearest to you right now has the best possible chance of saving your life – could you save theirs?
The idea for the events was born after two Lexus Bristol employees, David Bowden and Nigel Knapp, helped save the life of a customer visiting their dealership in 2013 - David had previously learned the necessary skills on a training course at Acorn.
Amongst those who attended the first event was Laura Breen from ‘Trunki’ – she says;
“The CPR workshop was really good; it’s an invaluable skill and really was a very enjoyable event.”
The venue for the training event is currently being confirmed although we can tell you that it will be in or near Downend – we’ll confirm the venue online and through our social media channels over the coming fortnight.
The event will offer a choice of two sessions; 4:30pm-6:30pm and 7pm-9pm with each session allowing 15 minutes either side of the training to arrive, chat, mingle and ask questions should delegates wish to do so.
Visitors to the event will receive hands-on training on unconsciousness, choking and how to administer CPR – all delivered by Danny and the team at Acorn.
Danny Street, Owner and Director at Acorn says; “Having lived and worked in South Gloucestershire all my life I’m really looking forward to providing this free CPR training session for the benefit of our local community”.
Gary Brindle, publisher of Downend Voice said, “This is a great opportunity for the people, groups, clubs and businesses within our area to come together and take part in this invaluable course.”
Those interested in attending or being notified once the venue is confirmed, should email firstname.lastname@example.org indicating their preferred choice of session – alternatively they can call Trudi on 0117 958 2070 or visit www.acornsafety.co.uk/health-safety-training/learn-basic-cpr-for-free
