Free exercise and support offer for cancer survivors

A FREE exercise class is being offered in Staple Hill to help people in the community who have been touched by cancer.
Karen Davis, who has over 16 years’ experience in working for cancer charities, plans to run a low impact Zumba Gold class in The Nest Community Room in Page Park.
Karen hopes her experience in working with patients and her love of teaching Zumba as a qualified instructor will come together to offer support.
The class will start on Monday October 2 and will be a 45- minute class that will start at midday each Monday in termtime.
Karen said: "I have seen first-hand how very difficult it can be when patients have been given a diagnosis of cancer and also how treatment and recovery affects everybody in a different way. Zumba Gold offers the most uplifting music with wonderful dance moves and will hopefully provide support to those whose lives have been touched by cancer.”
The class is free and there will be no pressure to participate weekly or for the duration; chairs will be available and patients are welcome to bring a friend with them at no charge.
“It will be a great introduction to exercise and help body and mind surrounded by the Sensory Garden in Page Park,” said Karen, who lives with her family at home near the park.
“I would like to thank the Bean Tree Café for their support in this community initiative and would express a warm welcome to everybody who may wish to come along. Please feel free to turn up on the day or contact me on 07799 628308 for a chat beforehand.”
