Friends' joy at Queen's Award

COMMUNITY group Friends of Page Park say they are honoured and delighted to be awarded The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
The prestigious accolade is the highest award given to voluntary groups across the UK.
The group was nominated by a resident and this was backed up by many letters of support from others.
Assessors visited the Friends before Christmas to find out more about the work they have been doing to improve historic Page Park.
Members were bowled over when they received notification to say they had been successful.
Vice chairwoman Steph Purser said: "It's a great achievement and we are all very, very proud.
"We've all worked hard and turned the park around and it's nice for that to be recognised."
