Get set for MetroBus works on ring road and M32
Published on: 30 Sep 2016
DRIVERS can expect more delays this month as work continues to prepare for the MetroBus network.
Overnight weekend closures of the A4174 Avon Ring Road at the Hambrook lights, twice postponed in recent months because of heavy rain, have been rescheduled. They include full closure of the westbound carriageway from 8pm on Friday 30 September to 6am on Monday 3 October and from 8pm on Friday 7 October to 6am on Monday 10 October. There will also be full overnight closure of the same stretch from 8pm on Monday 10 October to 6am on Tuesday 11 October. The road will be fully open during the day.
South Gloucestershire Council says it is carrying out essential maintenance work.
More overnight closures are planned further along the ring road. These will be nightly between 8pm – 6am from Monday 26 September to the end of the October. The road will be open in the day and at weekends.
Information on diversion routes can be found at www.southglos.gov.uk/challengefund or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Meanwhile, road works to extend the M32 bus lane into Bristol are about to start and are expected to last seven months.
Contractors will be removing and replacing the central reservation, upgrading drainage and ducting, and installing Average Speed Cameras.
The motorway will remain open during the works.
MetroBus part of which runs from Emersons Green into the city centre, is due to open 2017.
