Gracefields tribute to cricket legend

A NURSING home which opened last month in Downend has been named as a tribute to the area’s sporting legend WG Grace.
The purpose built home, in North Street, is called Gracefields after the esteemed Downend born cricketer.
A spokesperson for the home said: “The name Gracefields derives from the fact that cricketing legend WG Grace was born and lived in the house next door.
“He also played in the playing fields opposite the home. We felt naming the home in Grace’s honour would be a fitting tribute to this local sporting hero.”
Gracefields opened on February 19 and will care for residents with dementia and general nursing needs.
It is run by Cedar Care, a Bristol-based family business which was established in 1987.
