Great to see everyone enjoying the playing fields

The Silver Walkers prepare for their breath of fresh air

IT has been wonderful to see so many families enjoying the playing fields and the play equipment over the summer holidays – hopefully we will have some sunny days still to come.
There have been issues with a small group of young people who have not respected the environment or the neighbours and the police were called on more than one occasion to deal with antisocial behaviour. It is disheartening but it is only a few that are behaving badly and I am encouraged by knowing that several of our younger residents have spent their summer doing National Citizen Service (NCS) and making a positive contribution to local charities and homeless people through social action projects.
The first Silver Walkers Group started on August 20 and will take place every Thursday at 10am, meeting at the Pavilion off Sutherland Avenue and finishing with coffee and a chat. The first group was well attended and as you can see in the photos was a lively group – we even bumped into another buggy group on their walk!
The King George V Buggy Walks continue on the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 10am. We still welcome volunteers for both groups to become walk leaders so that all walks can be covered.
The next Friends group meeting is on Monday September 7 at 7pm at Badminton Road Playing Fields Pavilion off Sutherland Avenue. We will be hearing the results of the public consultation for the landscape plan among other things. We really need to grow our numbers so that we can start to consider hosting events. If you can spare just a little bit of time please consider joining us  - without support for the local residents we are limited in what we can achieve. If the idea of being on a committee doesn’t appeal but you would be happy to help with an event please let us know.
