MORE than 60 home-schooled youngsters came face to face with man’s best friend when they visited Downend Library.
Laura, Celia and Dale are all Guide Dogs and were brought to the library to meet the children, aged two to 16.
Guide dog owners Martin Sullivan, who lives in Downend, and Jan Peters, who is from Mangotsfield, talked to the children about their dogs, Dale and Celia.
Puppy walker Kerstin Sheridan introduced her puppy Laura who is still in training but hopes to become a Guide Dog later this year.
After the talks the children looked at braille books and were also encouraged to do blindfold tasks and ask questions about the dogs and how they were trained.
• The Guide Dog For The Blind Association is keen to recruit volunteers to help Guide Dogs in the South Gloucestershire area and particularly needs puppy walkers.
