Having a ball with the Seaside Rock Holiday Club
Published on: 25 Aug 2017
YOUNGSTERS living in and around Mangotsfield have been having a ball over the summer holidays.
More than 50 primary school aged children met up for the Seaside Rock Holiday Club at St James Church Hall where they enjoyed a fun, action-packed week from August 8-11.
The hall was transformed to capture the theme of the seaside and the children danced, sang, played games and took part in craft activities.
They also enjoyed extracts from the Bible and learned all about the disciple Peter.
Sally Sibley, school-community link worker for Emersons Green and Lyde Green, said: "A 30-strong team of adults were present each day to help, some of whom were using a week of their annual holiday to help make sure this activity was safe as well as fun.
"A team of young people also gave freely of their time to help younger children enjoy themselves and to share their energy and enthusiasm for Seaside Rock."
On the Sunday lots of the children returned to the hall with their families to attend a Celebration Service that enabled both families and wider church members to understand what the whole week had been about.
Sally said: "This is the fourth year that the team from St James Church have offered this activity for children to enjoy and it was very much appreciated by all the children and their families."
