Heathfest organisers hoping for sun

FINGERS are being crossed for sunshine at this year’s Heathfest after last year’s event was cancelled due to wet weather.

A rainy June left Bromley Heath playing fields water logged and inaccessible leading to organisers calling off the festival.

Despite having to cancel, an impressive £500 was raised and donated to the event’s 2012 chosen charity, The Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Appeal.

The annual event – known fully as Bromley Heath Community Festival - is organised by a voluntary committee of residents and attracts thousands of visitors.

Organisers have been working on the 2013 festival for 10 months to ensure there is something there for everyone to enjoy.

It will include live music, stalls, local food and drinks, rides, games, face painting and children’s activities including family races.

Putting in an appearance will be Heathfest’s mascot, Bromley Bear, who will have his own tent at the festival so youngsters can come and say hello.

Heathfest takes place on Saturday July 6 at Bromley Heath playing fields, just off Wedgewood Road.
