DAD Ian Jones came to the rescue when outdoor play equipment at Page Park Preschool was damaged by vandals.

The preschool, which has been running at the pavilion for 40 years, found a wooden boat had been smashed and a playhouse turned on its side.

Leaders reported the damage to police and put out a message on the group’s Facebook page. They were overwhelmed by the massive support they received from parents in response.

Ian, whose children Lily, four, and Jacob, three, attend the preschool, bought new wood and repaired the equipment free of charge. He runs his own carpentry and maintenance business and said he was glad to have been able to help the group, which is a charity and relies on fundraising.

A spokeswoman for the preschool said: “The boat is as good as new. We would like to say a huge thank you to him for his help and support.”
