A HUSBAND and wife team who set up a successful gym club 14 years ago are celebrating its anniversary by offering extra classes in the area.
Steve and Deb Denny, of Downend, launched Starjumpers Gym Club after qualifying as pre-school gym coaches in 2003.
It was one of Bristol’s first pre-school specialist gymnastics clubs dedicated to the under fives and has been running one day a week at Quakers Road Church Hall ever since.
But from this month it will be based there three days a week - Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as well as two additional days at Emersons Green Village Hall on Mondays and Tuesdays.
With the original aim of providing fun and fitness for the under fives, the British Gymnastics affiliated club now provides classes from five months up to 11 years, with recreational after-school classes held twice a week.
There is now a sister club, Bristol Starlight cheer squad, which is also based in Bromley Heath three afternoons a week.
Deb said: "We have been at Quakers Road since 2003 but it has been only on Thursday afternoon and evening. What’s really exciting for us is that in September our Wednesday and Friday classes are moving there, so we can become the neighbourhood gym club.
"On Mondays and Tuesdays we are in Emersons Green, so we truly are a BS16 pre-school gymnastics gym club.
"Nearly 300 babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and school age children currently go to Starjumpers classes, and there will be spaces available for anyone looking for a fun, active class on their Downend doorstep."
