A SPECIAL cake marked not only the Queen's landmark birthday but the 90th birthdays of two ladies from Christ Church, Downend.
Like Her Majesty, Pat Hocking and Mary Massey were born in 1926 and are celebrating their 90th birthdays this year.
The birthday girls, along with other members of Christ Church, Downend, were treated to a special cake during the Queen's Brunch Street Party, which took place after communion on Thursday June 9.
Tables were laid in a street party-style in rows with red tablecloths, china teacups and teapots and Union Jack napkins. Bunting added to the festive atmosphere.
The cake, which featured red, white and blue sections, was made by the talented Margaret Pring who is renowned for her cake-making skills having already baked an iced cake to feed 2,000 as part of the Millennium celebrations.
A communion service is held at 9.30am every Thursday at Christ Church, Downend with coffee and cake at Open Church until midday.
