Knitters help sick children bear up
Published on: 23 Jun 2017
LADIES from Downend's Knit and Natter group have been putting their skills to good use by helping sick children.
Members were inspired to knit jumpers for teddy bears after a visit from a nurse from WATCh (Wales & West Acute Transport for Children Service), a team responsible for the safe inter-hospital transfer of critically ill children.
The jumpers are purple to co-ordinate with the colour of the uniforms worn by WATCh nurses.
Every child is given a bear who stays with them throughout their illness and becomes theirs for life. Knit and Natter takes place at Downend Library on Mondays at 10am.
