The sun shone for the crowds at Downend Cricket Club on Friday June 19, when the cricketing legends of the Lashings All Stars returned for their fifth year in a row.
Downend fought hard, but couldn’t manage to beat the Lashings team (who have only lost once on this summer’s tour), ending up on 124-9 after 20 overs, chasing the All Stars’ 189.
Downend’s Andy McEwan was named Man of the Match after hitting 32 before he was bowled by Chris Schofield.
The Lashings’ Wasim Jaffer hit their highest score of 84 from 39 balls. Jaffer’s innings included a six and 17 fours and was nearly double the next highest score, notched by his opening partner Chris Schofield, who made 44.
The day also included a treat for the club’s juniors, who were given an exclusive coaching session with Tino Best (West Indies international) before the match.
