Love Page Park celebrates in the sun

IT had been cancelled once due to heavy rain but there was no stopping the rescheduled Love Page Park event.
Sunshine brought the crowds to the popular park as visitors celebrated Staple Hill’s number one attraction.
The event, organised by Friends of Page Park, featured music from the bandstand, stalls, fun rides, a dog show, local pubs tug-of-war and entertainment from a display arena.
Love Page Park was organised to promote what the park has to offer and to draw attention to plans to carry out improvements after both the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Big Lottery Fund agreed in principle to a £1.6 million grant.
The friends group is also looking at raising a further £100,000 to restore the historic clocktower and chiming clock.
A few years ago the group raised £90,000 to restore the bandstand, a project which came to fruition last year.
Originally, Love Page Park was due to take place on July 19 but severe weather with more storms forecast meant the event was delayed until September 6.
