BADMINTON Road Methodist Church is close to fulfilling its vision of providing exciting new facilities for families and the community.
Over the past few weeks workmen have been transforming the 1950s building for the church’s ambitious Creations Project. So far the old youth club annexe has had new wiring, new ceilings and new water and electric supply. The revamp will enable a permanent worship area within the building as well as play areas and a more regular café.
The Minister, the Rev Pearl Luxon, said: “Work is coming along nicely. After doing a lot of clearing, memorabilia is surfacing from decades ago. We have found things like the original registration for the Kingswood Scouts troop meeting here from 1959. We are looking forward to it being completed.”
Since the project was first planned costs have increased dramatically, and so the church is in need of more funds. A Gift Day coffee morning brought in a further £15,000. A further £35,000-£45,000 is still needed.
