Mangotsfield full of new year resolution

A CONVINCING win against league leaders Merthyr Town sent Mangotsfield into Christmas full of good cheer.

The 4-0 victory at The Glass Consultants UK Stadium at Cossham Street on December 21 left them in fifth place in the Calor League Division One South and West.

Supporters were encouraged to wear Christmas hats and jumpers to enter into the spirit of the festive season.

Goals from Lewis Powell, new signing Aron Robbins, and two from Luke Ballinger sealed the points and gave them and their fans high hopes for the new year.

The win followed a mixed run that saw Mangotsfield take five points from four games, with draws at Thatcham (1-1) and Didcot (2-2), and a 1-0 home win against Cinderford Town but a 1-2 home defeat to Yate Town.

Attacking midfielder Kyle Tooze has been released by the club and has signed for Bridgwater Town. This brings to an end his third spell at Mangotsfield during which he made a total of 110 starts with 30 off the bench and scored 22 goals.

Robbins, 24, has signed for Mangotsfield from Bridgwater. He can play anywhere on the left and is seen as a like-for-like replacement for Tooze.

Mangotsfield United Supporters’ Club Player Of The Month award for November was presented to central midfielder Jamie Reid
