HAVE you had a New Year sort-out? If so, get your recycling down to the tip at Mangotsfield before the end of January.

South Gloucestershire Council has announced that the Sort It! centre in Carsons Road will be closed for four months for improvements.

This means people from the area will need to go to Yate or Stoke Gifford to dispose of household waste from February 1 to May 31.
The work at the site is aimed at improving traffic flow in and around the recycling centre and changes to the yard in preparation for more changes to refuse collection - including smaller black wheels bins - later in the year.

A spokesman said closing the centre to the public  was necessary for safety reasons, although the tip will still be  used by council collection vehicles to unload household waste after collections.

He added that the council wasgiving residents advance warning so that they can dispose of any appropriate waste before the temporary closure.

The three other Sort It recycling centres in South Gloucestershire will be open as usual, 8:30am - 4:30pm seven days a week.

  • Thornbury - Short Way, BS35 3UT
  • Yate - Collett Way, BS37 5NL
  • Little Stoke - Station Road, BS34 6HP

The centres are open only to South Gloucestershire residents whose vehicles have been registered. This can be done at  www.southglos.gov.uk/sortitreg.
