Cake evening

NEVER  has there been a better reason to eat cake! Fundraisers all over the Downend have been holding cake sales and gatherings for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Thursday Open Church group at Christ Church held a coffee morning, and other church members held gatherings in their home, enabling the congregation to raise a total of £847.59.

Staple Hill Primary Friends of School have supported the Macmillan coffee morning event for more than ten years.  This year’s event raised £280.

Headteacher Peter Foss-Clark said “It was a thoroughly enjoyable morning at school for all the children and families."

The parent teacher association at Blackhorse Primary organised a coffee morning, after-school cake sale and raffle, which raised £360.25.

Employees at Team leidos Team in Emersons Green held a cake baking prize draw, with support from The Huntsman (now Generous George) in Downend and Keratin Hair and Beauty in Emersons Green. The event raised £325.83.
