COMMUNITY health care services in South Gloucestershire will be managed by a new provider from next April.
Sirona Care & Health, a not-for-profit social enterprise, has been chosen to run the majority of services including district nursing, community therapy services and services provided in clinics and health centres across South Gloucestershire and on Henderson Ward at Thornbury Hospital.
Sirona already provides services to children with life limiting illnesses in the district and from October 1 will be providing specialist health services for people with a learning difficulty.
Sirona is publicly funded by the NHS and, in some areas, local authorities.
It employs 1700 staff, most of whom transferred from either the NHS or the council in Bath & North East Somerset. A further 450 NHS staff will transfer to Sirona as part of the five year contract that has been awarded.
