CHILDREN at Bromley Heath Infant School became clog dancers, gingerbread men and angels as they took part in an opera event.

Local opera group Tessitoura worked with the Year 2 pupils on the dances before the performance of Hansel and Gretel, which members had adapted for a young audience.

Head teacher Tina Long said the children had been very excited to take part in a live show with real actors. She said that as well as enabling the children to experience a quality live musical performance, the visit had complemented the work the children had been doing on traditional tales by demonstrating a different way of telling the story.

“It was a wonderful performance and a great experience for the children, which I am sure they will remember for a very long time. Involving the Year 2 children added an extra dimension to the performance and provided an opportunity for them to be involved in live theatre,” she said.
