Outstanding rating for Sunbeams

SUNBEAMS Day Nursery in Downend is bursting with excitement after being rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by the watchdog Ofsted.
In her report after visiting the nursery in Dibden Road in August, inspector Angela Cogan said staff knew the children well and built strong relationships with them. Learning was planned planned to meet each individual's needs, meaning that children were prepared exceptionally well for starting school.
“The quality of teaching is consistently outstanding,” she said. “Staff are exceptionally well qualified.”
Ms Cogan was impressed by how the children were mesmerised and engrossed in their learning, and showed tremendous independence and perseverance.
“Chidlren are exceptionally considerate and respectful. They are excited and proud of their achievements,” she reported.
The renovations to the outdoor area to appeal to the children's interests were praised for adding to the superb opportunities open to children at the nursery, which has 55 children on roll.
Owner Jackie Offer said: “I could not be more proud of the manager Alison Ryan and the whole team. I am elated that their hard work has been recognised and honoured.
“Alison prides herself on how well the team know the children, their parents and family members and visitors often comment on the ‘family feel’ of the nursery.”
