POLICE have praised vigilant neighbours who noticed a burglary at a home in Downend.

Officers were called at about 3.15pm on Thursday April 23 to the house in the Bury Hill View area .

The prompt call enabled police to make two arrests within 10 minutes of the report. A third arrest happened soon afterwards.

The men appeared in court the following day..

Officers recovered a small jewellery box containing earrings which was found to have been taken from the house.

Neighbourhood PC Sue Baron, who was one of the first officers on the scene, said: “I would like to thank the member of the public who called us immediately on seeing men behaving suspiciously at the house and was able to provide us with descriptions of the suspects and their vehicles.

“Crime is reducing in this area but it’s still important to take sensible precautions to protect your property. I’d recommend that you keep jewellery securely locked away. It’s also a good idea to take photos of your jewellery and record serial numbers of watches on www.immobilise.com.”
