Post Office apology for 8-day hitch

CUSTOMERS wanting to cash pensions and carry out over the counter transactions were forced to go elsewhere when Downend Post Office temporarily closed due to "technical issues".
The popular branch, at 4 Downend Road and is part of a McColl's convenience store, was shut for eight days from May 11 after a problem with the telephone line prevented the computer system from working.
Post Office services resumed on May 19.
A Post Office spokesperson said: "We are delighted that Downend Post Office re-opened on Thursday May 19 after the branch was closed for eight days due to a telecommunications fault.
"We worked hard to get the problem fixed as quickly as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the unplanned temporary closure.”
