Resound youth club trebles its numbers

A YOUTH club has trebled its numbers since it launched in Mangotsfield five months ago.The Resound Youth Club opened its doors in January, with 20 young people regularly attending on a Monday evening.
They enjoyed themselves so much that they told their friends about the club, and numbers rocketed to 60.
Young adults worker at Resound, Matt Doherty, said: “We are attracting young people from different backgrounds and even from different schools, including Downend, Mangotsfield, John Cabot and the Ridings in Winterbourne. Among other activities, the young people have enjoyed movie nights, a live DJ, group games, crafts, outdoor sports, making short films and most recently, a subsidised trip to Laser Fusion in Bristol.”
The upturn in attendance has resulted in an active search for extra volunteers to get involved.
“Please get in touch if you would like to make a difference in the lives of young people and be a part of this fantastic club,” said Matt.
The Resound Youth Club is open during school term time on Monday evenings from 7-9pm, for secondary school-aged young people. It takes place at the Resound Centre on Blackhorse Road in Mangotsfield.
