Robbery at Tesco Express store in Mangotsfield

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man with a gun threatened a shop worker at the Tesco Express store in Mangotsfield.

The robbery took place just after 8.30pm on Sunday November 6 when a white man dressed in dark clothing went into the store and demanded cash and cigarettes. 

The man, who had his face partly covered, made off on foot with a quantity of cash and cigarettes after threatening the shop worker with what was described as a black handgun.

Shop staff immediately raised the alarm and specialist firearms officers were dispatched to the scene to support their colleagues. A suspect was arrested at around 9.40pm.

DC 2803 Tom Williams said: “I’d ask anyone who was in the Mangotsfield area on Sunday night who spotted a man acting suspiciously to get in touch with us.”
