Run, run, as fast as you can to catch us

WE seem to have a bit of a running theme going on this month – perhaps marathon man Ben Smith is to blame.
He's aiming to do 401 marathons in 401 days, which is a bit mindblowing to us at Downend Voice as we struggle to complete 401 metres in as many minutes during our training for the Colour Run at Oldbury Court next month.
However, it seems plenty of people in our area have got off the starting blocks a bit more quickly, not least the children, parents and staff at Stanbridge Primary, who staged their own charity colour run on the day that Ben stopped by.
And what about Liam Royle and Laura Sturgeon, who are so devoted to the Pomphrey Parkrun that they took part on their wedding day?
It's great to see the fun and fellowship that people get from running – and from throwing paint from the sidelines. We hope to see a few readers doing that on October 2 as we stagger round the 5k course.
Of course, we love to get news from all groups, not just the sportingly inclined, and to share the stories of the many remarkable people in our area. So if you hear of someone doing something amazing, do let us know. Give us a call or email us at email@example.com
Send us your pictures too – we are always glad to receive them.
Our paper is hand-delivered free to about 11,000 homes. Hundreds more copies are available at libraries in Downend, Staple Hill and Emersons Green and at other pick-up points. Between our monthly editions, keep an eye on our website www.downendvoice.co.uk
You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter – and look out for our new Emersons Green Voice, which launches this month.
