DOWNEND hairdresser Sadie Jones took the plunge to raise money for a charity close to her heart.

Sadie took part in an abseil at the Avon Gorge in support of St Peter's Hospice.

She also organised a boutique fair in Quakers Road Hall and in total her efforts have raised £1,600.

Sadie, who runs Sadie's Hair Studio in Quakers Road, said: “St Peter's Hospice is a brilliant charity helping families everyday going through hard times. I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the boutique fair and all who sponsored me.”

As Bristol’s only adult hospice, St Peter’s Hospice cares for more than 2,670 patients each year as well as supporting family members.

All services are provided free of charge but this care costs around £18,000 a day. For about £14,000 of that, the hospice relies on gifts in wills, kind donations and funds generated by the hospice shops.
